Description

Khetha is a five-year USAID Southern Africa-funded program that works to combat wildlife crime, in particular relating to elephants and rhinos in and around the Kruger National Park in South Africa and the Limpopo National Park in Mozambique as well as adjacent protected areas. Khetha is actively working with communities who live in around these protected areas to restore and strengthen the relationship between the communities and protected areas by building partnerships between the communities, civil society, governments and the private sector to ultimately lower the cost these communities bear from living with dangerous wildlife and increase the benefits of living next to protected areas.

Khetha is simultaneously working the law enforcement agencies in South Africa and Mozambique to increase the effectiveness of wildlife crime prevention, detection, apprehension, prosecution and collaboration through research, tool development and training.
